That first day when you as a PT student go out into the real, professional clinical world expected to treat someone with real pain is out of this world exciting and also terrifying as all get out. You can ace every practical, dominate every written exam, and read most of your textbooks yet treating someone who isn't just pretending to be injured, someone who is looking to you to provide the highest level of care is a bit unnerving. After some reflection on my first clinical experience, I created a list of recommendations to calm your first day nerves and ensure success with your Clinical Instructor.
